PROTOCOL…
Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Colleagues, Members of the Press, Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you all to the 2024 World Mosquito Day event, hosted here at the PECAN National Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja. Today, we gather not only to commemorate the vital work of our association but also to reaffirm our commitment to a cause that affects millions of lives globally—the fight against malaria.
The theme for this year, “Accelerating the Fight Against Malaria for a More Equitable World,” resonates with our mission and underscores the urgent need to enhance our efforts in mosquito control. As you all know, malaria remains one of the most devastating diseases, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations and perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality.
Today’s event is not just a celebration; it is a call to action. Our agenda includes a press conference and an enlightening lecture on mosquito control, which are both crucial components in our strategy to educate, inform, and mobilize efforts against this formidable foe. The knowledge shared here today will equip us all—industry experts, health professionals, government officials, and the public—with the tools needed to accelerate our fight and push for more equitable health outcomes across Nigeria and beyond.
I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all the members of PECAN, our partners, and the dedicated professionals who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible. Your commitment is the backbone of our progress, and together, I am confident that we can continue to make significant strides in the battle against malaria.
As we proceed with the day’s activities, I encourage everyone to actively participate, ask questions, and share ideas. The fight against malaria is a collective responsibility, and through our united efforts, we can indeed create a world where everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has a fair chance at a healthy life.
Once again, I welcome you all to this important event, and I look forward to a fruitful and impactful day.
Thank you.
PCO Olakunle Williams,
National President, Pest Control Association of Nigeria (PECAN)
